Baby Shower

This past weekend I went to Arlington for my baby shower. Regina & Amy were the hostesses & left nothing undone. They had every detail covered. Everything looked incredible!

Here is the invitation. I had already glued it into Elliot's baby book. I think it is adorable! Very "me". It matches her room (green & brown).

The food was sooooo good! Tons of sweets to choose from! Don't you just love the vases the plates are sitting on? They spray painted them! Who knew?
This is one of the prettiest cakes I've ever seen! It tastes just as good as it looks. Almond flavored...yum! I'm now regretting not taking left overs home :(

Here are some more decorations. As you can see they made a clothes line with the cutest little dresses on them! And you can see the diaper cake stuffed with goodies. They had everyone write a little message on the diapers, so I can have something to read during the late night changings!

This was one of the games we played. Everyone had to guess the baby item that started with the letter on the bag.

Presents! (Don't ask me why this picture is so small). I received so many amazing gifts! I got a lot of my big items which will help us out tremendously! And I now have enough dresses to last Elliot a lifetime! If only she stayed 0-3 months longer. I'm going to have to put her in 3 outfits a day to make sure she gets to wear them all!

Lexi (my sister-in-law) & me. Lexi is only 1 week further along than me! She is expecting a little boy!

My besties: Amy, Marianne & Regina. There's not many people that can say they have 3 lifelong friends. I have grown up with these girls & we've all managed to remain close & be there for each other's big moments.

My mom, sister & nieces. My sister is a month further along than me with her 4th girl! Lots of cousins for Elliot!

Thank you Amy & Regina for all the hard work you put into making my shower perfect! I am so lucky to have friends that care about me so much!

Elliot's Blanket

After 3 months, I finally finished the baby blanket I'm making for Elliot. No, I didn't continuously work on it, but the fact still remains. I figured it's the one sentimental item that I put my blood, sweat & tears into that I can give to her. My mom made me a baby blanket when I was born & I remember using it forever & now I have it for Elliot as well. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a sewer & have no intention of ever becoming one. But I thought-how hard could sewing a rectangle be? I'll tell you how hard, really hard! I love the fabrics I picked, even though they don't match her room, but the plush one happened to be the hardest fabric ever to work with! It stretched & I was always redoing it. What a pain. Oh well, now I can say it's done. Thanks mom for sewing the 4th side for me. She had to do a blind stitch by hand & that was definitely out of my skill level. I have a feeling the first time I wash it, it's going to fall apart.

So as you can see it ended up being a rectangular-ish shape. I did my best.

Here's the fabric up close. So cute & so soft!

Good Luck Lane!

I just dropped Lane off to take his first board test. He was supposed to take it last Tuesday, but realized the day of that he had actually signed up for July. So he had to change the date to today. I know he's going to do great. This kid has studied for the past 2 months everyday all day. Of course every time I tell him that he'll do good, he always says, "good isn't good enough." He wants to get in the 90th percentile. Kind of annoying, but that's the perfectionist in him. Before we left, he listened to a little pump up music, "Rump Shake" by Wreckx-N-Effect & did a little dance. It was quite hilarious to watch. But I'm sure that's what will put him in the zone for today. So everyone say a little prayer for him.

Whitney

This weekend we headed to Arlington again! We made a stop in Whitney to visit Lane's mom, Jan & Rich. We had a great time there. They took us out on their boat which was so relaxing. I haven't been on a boat probably since I was 16. It was nice to just bake in the sun. I wish I had pictures of it, but Lane couldn't find the camera at that point. Another highlight was that they took us to their local shooting range. Lane got to do all the shooting while I just sat back & watched.

Lane & his mom

In action

30 weeks 4 days

I had another appointment today. They're so quick that they almost seem pointless. I was literally in & out in 15 minutes. So far I've gained 20 lbs. I think I'm storing most of it in my face, legs & butt. Elliot was once again moving around nonstop, which made it difficult for them to get the heartbeat (124bpm). I swear I have the most active child ever! The tech even said that usually it's only the boys that kick back. This is the 2nd time she's made this comment, which puts doubt in my head that Elliot is actually a girl. I would probably die if I found out she was a he. My nurse told me that I'm measuring small (26cm), so at my next visit, they are going to do an ultrasound. This makes me happy because I've been waiting for another chance to take a look & confirm that it's still a girl.

Weekend with Family

This weekend I went to visit my family while Lane stayed home & studied for his boards. It was a nice little trip. I did so much! My dad is a gun fanatic, so we headed out to Cabella's to look for ammunition. That place is like a museum. There's lots of things you can do there. Here's my dad below. They had these guns that you would shoot at the targets & if you hit them, they would make noise & move.

They had all these exhibits of animals. Here's me & my dad in front of the Arctic animals.

Here's me & my mom in front of the African animals.

And here I am with a stuffed moose. I couldn't resist. Seriously, if you have kids, they would love this place.

I also got to spend time with my friends. Regina & I hung out a couple of times & just caught up. I love doing that! Then I got together with Amy & she helped me make this awesome valance that I'm going to put up in the baby's room. Here's the result below. Trust me it looks so much better in person. It's brown & white stripes. My mom also helped me make curtains that go with it. They're brown & white polka dots. Once I get everything set up I'll post pics.

The last big thing we did as a family was go to a Rangers game. It was the only one I'll be able to make this season. My mom made her famous Missouri Hot Dogs which were delicious! The game was pretty slow. Then a block of lights went out. I didn't even notice until they announced it. So they had a delay of game. We thought we'd stick it out for a while, but after an hour we were over it. So we left, which was a bummer. Good thing though because it was another hour before they resumed play.

Poked & Proded

Today I had my 28 week check up & I was there for 3 hours! First they listened to Elliot's heart beat (140 bpm). She was moving around so much that it was hard for the technician to get a good reading. They had to do 2 separate tests & there was a lot of wait time. The first one was the glucose test to see if I have diabetes. Lane thinks I'll have it since I eat so many sweets. The drink they make you take 30 minutes before wasn't as bad as people had warned me. I recommend the Fruit Punch for anyone who has to do it. Then they drew my blood. After that I had to go get my blood drawn again to check to see if I already had antibodies to the rh factor. Don't ask me to go into detail about that because it's quite confusing. Basically since my blood type is B- & Lane's is O+ I had to do that. Then they made me wait over an hour to get a needle. I got so sleepy that I ended up laying down on the couch & dozing off until the lady called my name. Later I headed back over to my doctor's office where they then gave me that shot right in the butt. So after 3 hours, I had blood drawn twice & a shot. I wish I had a picture of it because I looked hilarious with bandages on both arms & my bum.

Sand Castles

Today Lane & I went to Galveston to see the Sand Castle competition. It was pretty cool to see all the different ideas that people came up with. The 2 big ideas that several groups had was the Octomom & the Geico Money with the eyes. There were probably 5 of each of those. Enjoy the slide show below!

Ugh

Some women LOVE being pregnant. I on the other hand do not enjoy it one bit. You're sick for the first 12 weeks, your clothes start to get tight until you need a new wardrobe & you miss out on things. This vent you are about to read is probably due to the fact that I laid out by the pool today and finally came to the conclusion it was time to get a new (bigger) swim suit. As I sat there & examined my body, I realized that my legs & butt have grown drastically in size! Of course I haven't helped combat that by working out since those dvds I bought & tried once. Ya I got over those real fast. I can't work out in my house. There's not enough room & it's boring. So I went to Old Navy to look for a decent (& bigger) tankini & left with the most basic, blah black one there was. They didn't have a wide variety to choose from in the first place. And I wasn't about to go somewhere else & spend a ton of money on something I really didn't want to buy. Trying all the different pieces on was no fun at all. I just kept thinking of "21 sexiest beaches" I watched a week ago & lusting after all of those hot people walking around in cute swimsuits. I have decided that next time I get pregnant (if there is a next time) I am going to plan it to where it will be during the winter. That way, I'm not missing out on all of the cute summer styles, looking normal in a swimsuit, or even being able to fly to some beach.

Box it Up

Even though we don't move until the end of June, today I pretty much boxed up our whole apartment with the exception of our bedroom & some necessary bathroom items. This picture doesn't look like a lot of boxes, but it really is & there's a bunch more in our storage closet as well. Call me anal, but I just like to have everything ready to go, so when the day finally does come I don't have to do as much. There's something so cleansing about moving. You get the chance to go through all of your things & see what you really want to keep. I'm the queen of throwing things away & I did a lot of that today! Loved it! I also made a huge pile of stuff to give to Goodwill. You'll notice that we took down our big bookshelf & the coffee table is missing. Unfortunately we have to sell them because they won't fit into our new apartment, boo! Now if only I could fast forward time to the move date!
