Spazmatics!
Last night I went and saw this 80s cover band in Austin. Some of you may have heard of them...the Spazmatics. I was introduced to them by one of my coworkers. I think they've been around for about 4 years. As you can see in this picture, these guys dress up like nerds and act goofy on stage. I have to say, they're pretty entertaining. I had so much fun dancing and hearing all my favorite 80s songs. If you're ever in Austin, check these guys out!

the NO water wall
So let me give you some background on this place...This is the Water Wall. On all the websites, it says it's so beautiful when it's lit up at night, etc. So we've tried to see this "spectacular" sight on several occasions. In fact, we have made 4 trips to check this out. And all 4 times it has been turned off. Lane now rolls his eyes every time I mention it. But I was determined to see what the fuss was all about. Well today we went by before it got dark & it was on! Yea! I was so excited. Even though, I preferred for the lights to be on & it to be dark outside, I was taking what I could get.
Here's a picture of Lane in front of it. When a spot was finally clear of people, we asked this man if he would take our picture. And as I'm about to go stand by Lane, the water turns OFF! Just our luck. I was so ticked!
Here's a picture of me upset. I think this was the final straw. No longer will I drag Lane to this unpredictable place! I am giving up.
Work Trip
The past three days I've been in Grapevine for a work conference. Even though it was a lot of sitting for long periods of time, there were some fun parts. One night we rented a boat & cruised around the lake. Above are the girls I work with. They're all young, energetic & lots of fun. Good thing I got these gals around for entertainment.

Random Thoughts
| What makes you laugh? I laugh at myself a lot | |
| Who is your hero? I don't know. | |
| Who would you want to be tied to for 24 hours? No one! That would be horrible! | |
| How many pairs of shoes do you own? Probably 30-whatever the number, it's not enough | |
| Seriously... Where does the other sock end up? An old man tried to take our laundry the other day, so I have my suspicions! | |
| Who do you blame for your mood today? Myself. I was pretty pleasant today. | |
| If the Internet were sex... I would probably not be on it as much. haha. | |
| Have you ever seen a dead body? ya plenty. But they were all at funerals. | |
| What is something scientists need to invent? a travel machine. It takes to long to see my family & friends. | |
| What should we do with stupid people? Keep them around for amusement | |
| Have you ever broken a bone? no...knock on wood | |
| Do you watch local news? Why? no, it's too depressing | |
| What happens after you die? the afterlife | |
| How big is your bed? Big enough? Queen-the way I sleep, I really only need a twin. | |
| How long do you think you will live? Well if I make it through childbirth, hopefully til I'm at least 80. (no I'm not pregnant) |

Horsing Around
Tonight we went to Sam Houston Race Park to see the horse races. It was so much fun. I love seeing all the horses. My favorite part is picking out which horse I think will win. I always pick the one with the crazy name. I don't know how those people come up with them. Some of my favorites tonight were: Mambo Chill, Sassy's Tuffy, Separatist Baby, and Happy Streaker, just to name a few. If we had actually bet on them, we would have won some money tonight! It's so exciting seeing your pick actually win.
Who Are You?
Something is seriously wrong. Lane has even asked me, "who are you?" a few times. What's causing all this confusion? I'll tell you what. I've been eating healthy. That's right. For the past week I have not snacked ONCE! I've had incredible willpower for some reason. I never imagined I would keep it up, much less have the desire to keep it up. How long will this last? I have no idea. Actually it will end on Wednesday. That's when I'll be out of town on business. Nothing good ever comes from those. Anyway, this is just a little pat on the back to myself.

Our New Car in about 3 years
In California, they're making this car called the Aptera. It averages 300 miles per gallon. You heard me right. It's a hybrid & only takes 2 hours to charge & goes up to 85 miles per hour. It's selling for $30K right now. This picture is of the 2-seater. They're working on the 4-seater. We're going to wait a few years for them to work the kinks out of this thing, but it sounds awesome. Even though it looking totally ridiculous, I think I can handle it. It's design is so out there, I'd actually be ok driving it. I encourage everyone to look it up.
Astros vs. Rangers

Last night Lane & I went to see the Astros game. They were playing the Rangers, so I was really excited. I have to say the game was pretty uneventful. The Astros pretty much killed the Rangers, so it made for a boring game. And to top it all off, the beer guy was at the top of the stairs & I guess he accidentally knocked some over & they come tumbling down the stairs. I looked back & it was all in slow motion...the bottles flipping over and over, the top popping off of one & the liquid starting to come out, and eventually landing on my back. Yes that's right. Out of the entire crowd in our section, I was the only one who was hit. Nice.

And the Answer is...
a parachute! When I was told this riddle, the whole reason behind it was to show us how we as a people automatically assume things. In this case, we assume the guy started out in a desert. If the riddle had said a man was found dead in an alley, we'd probably assume he was shot, right? Anyway, I really like this!

Battleship Texas
Lane has been wanting to see the Battleship Texas since we moved to Houston & today was the day. We went on this great tour throughout the whole ship. I feel a lot smarter now. I had no idea it had been in both World Wars. We got to see where men slept, showered & went to the bathroom...funny story that goes along with that. Very interesting.
Across the street is the San Jacinto Monument. This stands 570 tall. It has the exact blue prints as the Washington Monument except they wanted it to be taller, so they added a star on top. Ha. Earlier this year I told my students that Texas won its independence at the Alamo, when in fact it was here! I know, I'm retarded. So I had to go back the next day & correct myself. That story probably doesn't surprise my family. For some reason I've always managed to say something stupid when it comes to history. Anyway, I watched a short video & learned this battle was won in 20 minutes! Now I bet you didn't know that!

Riddle Me This!
So I heard a riddle in my training that I liked & want to share with all of you. Now if you've heard this before, DON'T answer it & spoil the fun for everyone else! You're supposed to be able to ask yes or no questions to eventually come to your answer. Seeing as that won't be possible to do on a blog, pick your top 3 answers & number them. To make this fair, don't look at those who have already posted. I'll let you know the answer & what I learned from all of this in a few days. Here it is:
A man was found dead in the desert. Near him was a package. If he had opened the package he would not have died. What was in the package?
Good Luck!

Austin
This is a 10 second clip of Lane being a dork! We went on a trail and came across a huge piles of leaves & a large stick. The boys thought it would be a good idea to use the stick as a pole vault.
