Ugh

Some women LOVE being pregnant. I on the other hand do not enjoy it one bit. You're sick for the first 12 weeks, your clothes start to get tight until you need a new wardrobe & you miss out on things. This vent you are about to read is probably due to the fact that I laid out by the pool today and finally came to the conclusion it was time to get a new (bigger) swim suit. As I sat there & examined my body, I realized that my legs & butt have grown drastically in size! Of course I haven't helped combat that by working out since those dvds I bought & tried once. Ya I got over those real fast. I can't work out in my house. There's not enough room & it's boring. So I went to Old Navy to look for a decent (& bigger) tankini & left with the most basic, blah black one there was. They didn't have a wide variety to choose from in the first place. And I wasn't about to go somewhere else & spend a ton of money on something I really didn't want to buy. Trying all the different pieces on was no fun at all. I just kept thinking of "21 sexiest beaches" I watched a week ago & lusting after all of those hot people walking around in cute swimsuits. I have decided that next time I get pregnant (if there is a next time) I am going to plan it to where it will be during the winter. That way, I'm not missing out on all of the cute summer styles, looking normal in a swimsuit, or even being able to fly to some beach.

Box it Up

Even though we don't move until the end of June, today I pretty much boxed up our whole apartment with the exception of our bedroom & some necessary bathroom items. This picture doesn't look like a lot of boxes, but it really is & there's a bunch more in our storage closet as well. Call me anal, but I just like to have everything ready to go, so when the day finally does come I don't have to do as much. There's something so cleansing about moving. You get the chance to go through all of your things & see what you really want to keep. I'm the queen of throwing things away & I did a lot of that today! Loved it! I also made a huge pile of stuff to give to Goodwill. You'll notice that we took down our big bookshelf & the coffee table is missing. Unfortunately we have to sell them because they won't fit into our new apartment, boo! Now if only I could fast forward time to the move date!

Dinner with Friends

Last night we went to one of my favorite restaurants Buca Di Beppo with some friends. We had originally planned on just meeting up for dessert, but when they called & asked if we could do dinner I had no problem throwing the current meal I was cooking (homeade pizza- the sauce was already made & the dough rolled out) back into the fridge. I figured it would be just as good the next day. We had so much fun. I love eating with other couples. Not that I don't enjoy the company of just my husband, but things are so much more exciting when you're with other people. I think we both agree on that. Despite the fact that our waitor was terrible even though his name was Luigi, the food was still good & I got to enjoy the best cake ever made! Seriously, it's called Double Dark Chocolate Cake & it's to die for! Definitely worth every penny of it's over priced tag. And an added bonus, we had a $10 off coupon & gift card, so we ended up paying nothing! Gotta love that.

Cook Out Turned Take Out

I have today off & Lane has the first part of the day off, so we had planned to cook out by the pool & just layout. We're both in need of some serious sun, so I was excited to finally get outside. As good as a juicy hamburger sounds, we would have to buy meat, buns, chips, & drinks just for the 2 of us. It wouldn't be as big a deal if we had more people to spend Memorial Day with, but we don't. So we thought it would be cheaper to just swing by Whataburger & grab some burgers. Yes we're lame. We did end up laying out for a little bit but it wasn't as great as I had pictured it. I guess I'll shoot for 4th of July & try to scrounge up some people who will be in town & live near us. So to anyone out there who wants to cook out, let me know!

Astros Game

Standard Game Picture

Lane & I got to go to the Astros game today. We like to try & go when the Rangers are in town since I feel like I know both teams. Unfortunately I didn't have any Rangers shirts anymore, so I had to root for the other team (which I like as well). I kind of felt like a traitor. But the Rangers ended up winning 6-3. And we saw Nolan Ryan so that was cool.

Puppy Love

A couple of months ago, we watched "Marley & Me" & ever since then have been talking about getting a dog. And then the other day we saw a girl walking her mini dachshund & we fell in love! That will be the dog we get, whenever that is. Our timing is really bad. We would LOVE to get one now, but we'll be moving across town in a month, so we wouldn't wan to confuse it. Then a couple of months after that, we'll have a little girl to keep us busy. And I would rather get a dog after we already had a kid so the dog doesn't get jealous & start acting crazy. Then we really need to wait til Elliot gets a little older for a couple of reasons...1) I need to see if I can successfully take care of a child & 2) I want to be able to give enough attention to the dog. And of course ideally we would like so have a yard for the dog to play in. And if we wait for that to happen, it will be 2 years from now...ugh! So I guess it's safe to say that it will probably be a while, but when you see this little face, how can you not just melt?

Look at those puppy eyes.

And is this last one not just the cutest thing? He's all ready to play!

Reason goes out the window when you're this cute.

Half Way There

Last Friday, Lane finished his 2nd year of medical school, which means he only has 2 more years until he's an MD. If I look at it one way, it has flown by, but if I think back to when we first moved to Houston, it seems like forever ago. I'm sure he feels it more than me. Anyway, here he is with all his notes from this year. This isn't even including the books that he bought. The next 2 years should be more fun for him because he will start rotations & be out of the classroom. Get ready for some good stories!

Dream

I find it odd that the night before Mother's Day I have this dream. It's the first time I've ever dreamt about Elliot. And in this dream I'm a horrible mother! I keep forgetting to feed her! I hope this is not foreshadowing.

Houston Art Car Show 2009

Lane & I went downtown to watch the Art Car Show. It was so entertaining to see all the interesting vehicles. It makes me want to buy a junker & decorate it all crazy like. We stayed about an hour & I got a glimpse of what summer will be like for me...not good. It was so hot! I was so sweaty that my jeans were sticking to my legs. Note to self: wear shorts, skirts, capris...anything airy. Afterwards we made a mad dash to Sonic & picked up a cherry lime slush. Ahhh...refreshing!

Drive In

Lane & I headed out to the drive in about an hour outside of town. I was so excited when I found out there was one nearby. I think they're great! And it's only $5 per person & you get to watch 2 movies. We went to see "Wolverine". It was pretty good. By the time it was over it was 10:30, so we skipped out on the 2nd movie. For those of you who live in DFW area, there's a great one there too. You should definitely check it out.

The screen.

At the concession stand. These characters make me think of the song "Let's go out to the movies, let's go out to the movies, let's go out to the movies, & have ourselves a snack!"

Cinco de Mayo

In honor of this tasty holiday, we felt we had to at least eat Mexican food. And when deciding where to go, we thought-what's more Mexican than 100% Taquito??? Ever since moving to Houston, I've always driven by this place & wondered why it had such a strange name. Well we finally ventured in & were delighted by the food. It was really good, really cheap & really small portions (which is why it's really cheap). Nevertheless, we both liked it & felt we did our duty to honor Mexico. Don't ask me why we celebrate Cinco de Mayo. I know the Mexican army won some kind of battle. And I know that it wasn't their Independence. That's good enough.

Alone in Austin

Yesterday Lane had a medical conference he had to be at in Austin. It was also right in the middle of his test week. So I volunteered to go with him so he could at least study on the drive. However, that left me with 6 hours all to myself! At first I was bummed out because I had no idea what I would do to occupy myself. I decided to hit up the outlets in San Marcos. Surprisingly, that took up my entire afternoon and I ended up getting some great deals! Plus I walked for about 5 hours, so that was good too.
