1 Month Already!

We've hit the 1 month mark! Perry is doing great. She had her appointment today and weighs 8.5 lbs, measures 21.25 inches. She had to get a shot which she was not too happy about, especially since I had already accidentally clipped her finger as I was cutting her nails. But she handled it like a champ and her crying was short lived.

She has already acquired a few nicknames...Periwinkle, Perry Berry and Pear Bear. I actually hate that last one, but it seems to slip out of my mouth quite often. She's doing pretty well with sleeping. She seems to have a fussy period around 7:30 or 8:30pm. She wakes up to feed around 2am & 6am, so not too bad. I'm hoping to move her into her room pretty soon. She is still wearing newborn clothes. This is 1 of 2 outfits that actually fit her. The rest of her life she wears pjs. 0-3 month clothes still swallow her. Here are a few pictures. She just happens to be smiling!

Birth Announcement

I finally got Perry's birth announcements mailed out. I really loved the design I found on Etsy.

I didn't get professional pictures taken which made me the photographer. Bad idea. I suck at pictures. I just point and shoot. I don't have an photoshop program except for the one that came with my camera and I don't even know how to use that one too well. And to top it all off, little miss was so hard to take pictures of. Here are the outtakes.
I really wanted to use this one, but as I was looking at the announcements on Etsy, I realized this picture has too much going on for the designs that are out there.

Perry's Blessing

Today at church, Perry was given a name and a blessing by her father. Lane did a wonderful job and it was lovely. She wore the same blessing dress that Elliot did. Her Grandma Brenda made her a precious little bracelet with a charm I had bought. I was hoping to get a family picture, but with us having to be there by 9am, there just wasn't any time. So I settled for a picture of just Perry at home. She didn't give me much to work with. By the time we were home, she just wanted to eat and get out of her dress.

Perry at 2 Weeks

Weight: 7 lbs 11 oz--27%
Height: 21 in--73%
Head: 34.5 cm--13%

Doc says she's doing great. I have to agree. The only complaint I have is that she has a hard time falling asleep at night. During the day, she has no troubles at all, but when I want to put her to bed, it will take like 2 hours for her to finally fall asleep. Not good. The past 2 nights, Lane has ended up sleeping on the couch. I will be trying my hardest to turn this around.

Me Again

So I'm finally feeling like myself again. Not going to lie-the first week was ROUGH! 3 kids is tough. Props to all the mamas with 3+ kids. I couldn't even imagine! I thought I might have some post pardon depression going on, but realize it was just stress & adjusting to my new life. Like I said, the first week was a blur. I'm pretty sure I cried at least once every day. The strange thing about it was that it was always at a time when things were calm, but the waterworks started nonetheless. Anytime I thought about Lane leaving for work I would get really sad and anxious. Poor Lane had to deal with me & the crazies. But he did a great job. There is no way I could have survived without him comforting me, reassuring me & helping me. He seriously needs a reward.

But at about day 7 or 8, things started looking up. I was feeling more normal & together. I was making plans. I felt like I had a better handle on things. I started running an errand here & there just to get out of the house & that did a world of good for me. Of course I haven't ventured out with all 3 yet. Only 2 at a time. I'll have to work up to that one.

Silly Elliot

I've been looking forward to the age when Elliot starts saying funny stuff. And today what came out of her mouth was adorable. I wanted to write this down before I forget. I've been trying to instill good manners. You know, please & thank you. And she typically does a pretty good job. But today she was asking for some chips and I said, "what's the magic word?" to which she replied, "abra cadabra". I love how literal kids are. She has been watching a lot of Sleeping Beauty lately.

Sunbeams

Elliot has moved up a class at church. She is no longer in the nursery. Now she is a Sunbeam! She is so excited about this class. Her teacher is awesome (and happens to be my sister :)). She made bags for all the kids to bring each Sunday and she also sends a parent letter home letting us know what they learned. They played a matching game today and when Elliot got home, she got it out for me to play it with her. Needless to say she is doing great in her class.

Perry' 1st Bath

We finally gave miss Perry a bath today. I was waiting for her umbilical cord to fall off. She did great. In fact, she's the only one that hasn't cried during her first bath. From start to finish, she was content. Even when we took her out to dry her off. Not a peep.

They Love Her

Over the past few days I've watched how the kids interact with Perry. Let's be honest, there's not too much to do with her at the present time. However Elliot and Davis both seem to love her. Elliot has gotten in bed with me a few times while I'm nursing Perry and just lays down beside us. It's pretty sweet. We've had many conversations on where Perry gets her milk from and that we drink cow's milk and babies drink mommy's milk. Glad she knows the difference :) She also likes to sit by her and pat her head. Davis is also very interested in her. He likes to come up to her and lay his head down on her boppy or her tummy. It's so cute. I just have to watch him because he really wants to touch her face. The other day she was mid yawn and he stuck his finger in her mouth. Definitely can't leave them alone in a room together.

Davis at 15 months

So much to say about this little guy. I feel like in the last week he has grown tremendously. He looks so much older, bigger, and feels so much heavier! I feel like it's harder for me to hold him post baby than it was before. It's the weirdest thing. He's still not talking much, but I can tell he's trying so hard. He babbles a ton and tries to repeat some of the words I say. He did say quack quack the other day and Jesus (of all words), so we're moving in the right direction. He still likes to stick to me like glue. He hates it when anyone leaves a room. He still loves to make dinosaur noises. He has the best smile in the world and a laugh that's contagious.
weight: 23 lbs--34%
height: 33 inches--94%
head: 18.31 inches--30%

I feel like she's saying...

I've got the power!

This picture cracks me up. Well I'm not sure how much I'll be blogging in the near future because having 3 kids is HARD! I've always heard that the 3rd child just slides right into your family almost unnoticed, but that is not the case with us. She has been perfect, but Davis is only 15 months and is very demanding. Just trying to juggle Perry's schedule with the kids' has been a challenge. I feel so bad for Davis because he doesn't really understand why I can't play with him when I'm feeding Perry. He's also getting some more teeth in, so that just adds to the crying. I've had many generous offers to take him for a few days, but the thought just makes me cry. As hard as it is, I want him with me. I'm sure everything will settle down in a while. This too shall pass.

Way to End the New Year

Hope you have a great New Year's Eve!

She's Here!

We arrived at the hospital at 6am. They started my pitocin at 7am. I started having contractions at 8:30am. At 10:30am I received my epidural.

Here I am getting it put in. And you will notice Lane passed out on the couch. My anesthesiologist was like, "what's wrong with him?"

Moving on...I was so numb I couldn't feel a thing, much less move. By 1pm I was fully dilated and the epidural was starting to wear off. After about 3 sets of pushes, she arrived at 1:26pm.
Perry Leighton Blankenship
Weighing in at 7 lb 7 oz.
 Measuring 21 inches long.
When they put her on my chest, I felt an overwhelming love for her.
 She's just the sweetest thing.
Amy and Regina stopped by later to meet her.

She's such a party animal already. Ready to ring in the new year.
 With her daddy.

I still haven't slept for the past 37 hours. I'm very tired and hope to get some sleep tonight. Highly doubt it, but I can dream.

What are the odds

Lane & I had just finished watching a movie & we hear a thud upstairs followed by my mom moaning, "oh no!" We both run up to see her lying on the floor. She thinks she broke her leg. Thank goodness Lane was there because I start crying & he's the level headed one. He does a quick exam & decides to call an ambulance for her. There's no way to safely move her, so it's the best bet. They show up & sidenote-I know one of them. Used to hang out with him about 10 years ago...weird. Anyway, they load her up & off to the hospital they go. Lane drives up there to make sure everything goes smoothly.
After x-rays we find out that she has a midshaft femur fracture. Between her knee & hip the bone is in pieces & she'll have to have surgery tomorrow. So while I'm having a baby, she will be having surgery. Talk about stress.

In the meantime, I'm running around the house making lists & packing stuff for the kids since we obviously have to make other arrangements for people to keep them. I'm also packing things for my parents to take up to the hospital. Things are a bit crazy! It's now 1:30am on December 31st & I have to wake up at 4:30am to head to the hospital.
