Colorado

We said we weren't going to go on a vacation this summer since we had just moved and had a baby. However, we couldn't resist taking off to Colorado for a quick trip. This time we went to Evergreen which is about 45 minutes outside of Denver. It was a cute little town and very pretty. The first day we got there, we headed over to Evergreen Lake, which is really a large pond, and rented a Trike and a canoe. Day 2 we went to some state park to hike around there. It had lots of cliffs and big boulders. Our afternoon hike was in the forest, my preferred location. I just love all the tall trees. Day 3 we hiked the Red Rocks. The kids liked this one the best. Flatter trails and they were free to roam a bit more. Overall we had an ok time. Lane and I were regretting bringing the kids. It was constant whining. What kids don't like to explore outside? Apparently ours. Davis informed me on the last day that it would be his final hike. He said, "This is the last hike! I'm done hiking after this." I guess 4 hikes in 3 days is a bit too much for kids. All in all, they still had a good time.

Davis the Baseball Player

I have been wanting to sign Davis up for t-ball for a while now and I feel like he's finally getting to the right age for it. He's on the Royals. I'm still not sure if he likes it or not. When I ask him what he thinks, he just says, "good". So far he's only had 2 games. I feel like he's doing pretty good. He goes after the ball and throws it pretty well. Now we just need to work on him running to the right bases:)

First Day of 2nd Grade

We have a 2nd grader! Bless her heart, this is her 3rd school in 3 years. She is always so happy to go and meet new kids. 

Elliot's Birthday Party

So Elliot's party was a swim theme because we rented out a pool. Who would have thought in August there would be rain and lightning?! So that got canceled. She was bummed, but still all smiles at her party. 

My mom always makes a cake for the kids' birthdays at Sunday dinners. Elliot requested a starfish on hers. Wish granted.

Elliot is 7

Happy birthday to the sweetest girl around! She really is. She woke up to her annual balloons and streamers in her room. The night before she was asking if I was going to do that again and I just played dumb. She wanted to make sure it happened! I'm glad she looks forward to that. We had a great day. Donuts for breakfast, cousins hanging out at our house. We were going to go to the water park, but it was overcast, so I asked her what she wanted to do on her birthday and she said get a Slurpee. Done! One easy kid to please. She got to choose where to go for her birthday dinner and she picked Buffalo Wild Wings. It was only because they have ipads at the tables for the kids to play with. We sure do love Elliot. She's pretty much happy with whatever.

Edgy Chicks

Since school is about to start, I took the girls in to get their haircuts. Michelle treated them to some hair color. They thought they were so cool! I actually bought 2 colors to use at home. I figure it something fun to do every once in a while. And it washes out!

California Visitors

Lane's sister, Alys, and her kids came to Texas for a visit. We had so much fun with them. It's nice because each child has a friend. We tried to pack in as much stuff as possible during their stay: Omni, Bounce House, Perot Museum and lots of swimming. The kids still talk about their cousins and ask when we can see them again. If only we lived closer!
