Full Price It Is

I can't believe I missed it! Yesterday was the day that Cheesecake Factory gave away cheesecake for $1.50. I had all the signs in the world & somehow I still managed to not be there. Reminder #1-I got an email telling me of the momentous occasion. Reminder #2-My brother emailed me telling me about it. Reminder #3-My mom called me to let me know. Reminder #4-My friend blogged about the upcoming date. How many more signs could I have gotten? Obviously not enough. For some reason I had it in my head that it was AUGUST 30th, not July. So now I'm sad that I won't get a chance to at least get a discount on my favorite chocolate raspberry truffle cheesecake. I'll have to take the hit & pay full price.

True North Nuts

WARNING! Before you read on, please go to this link & watch this commercial. Then you will understand:)

A couple of weeks ago, I was watching tv & this commercial comes on. At the very end, I give this weird look to Lane & ask, "Did you just hear what they said?!" The last word "snack" sounded VERY much like another...ahem...word. So we rewound it a few times & were rolling. My thoughts were-Didn't someone have to approve this commercial? How could it not at least cross their mind? Then just yesterday my "favorite" commercial comes on again & I notice at the end they changed it! Finally, someone realized what the rest of the world was thinking! I have to say it amused me.

wrong point of VIEW

Today I'm working from home & and had the tv on. For the 1st time I started to watch The View. I lasted exactly 10 minutes. That show is so annoying! All it is are people yelling at each other. Let me clarify. It's Whoopi & Joy attacking Elizabeth for her opinion. And that's after they asked her for it! Elizabeth would start speaking & they would just interrupt her & dismiss anything she was thinking. Hate is a strong word & I choose to use it towards Whoopi & Joy!

Batty Weekend

On Friday night Lane & I went to this "bat" bridge in town. Tons of them came out around 8:30pm. Aside from the smell, it was pretty cool. I tried to take a couple of pictures, but it was twilight, so you couldn't see anything.

Today we saw the new Batman. Lane liked the movie, but I didn't at all. This one was too violent for my taste. From the opening scene all the way to the end, people were getting shot right & left. I couldn't believe parents actually brought their kids to this! Like I said, Lane liked it. I guess it's a guy thing.

Spazmatics!

Last night I went and saw this 80s cover band in Austin. Some of you may have heard of them...the Spazmatics. I was introduced to them by one of my coworkers. I think they've been around for about 4 years. As you can see in this picture, these guys dress up like nerds and act goofy on stage. I have to say, they're pretty entertaining. I had so much fun dancing and hearing all my favorite 80s songs. If you're ever in Austin, check these guys out!

the NO water wall

So let me give you some background on this place...This is the Water Wall. On all the websites, it says it's so beautiful when it's lit up at night, etc. So we've tried to see this "spectacular" sight on several occasions. In fact, we have made 4 trips to check this out. And all 4 times it has been turned off. Lane now rolls his eyes every time I mention it. But I was determined to see what the fuss was all about. Well today we went by before it got dark & it was on! Yea! I was so excited. Even though, I preferred for the lights to be on & it to be dark outside, I was taking what I could get.

Here's a picture of Lane in front of it. When a spot was finally clear of people, we asked this man if he would take our picture. And as I'm about to go stand by Lane, the water turns OFF! Just our luck. I was so ticked!

Here's a picture of me upset. I think this was the final straw. No longer will I drag Lane to this unpredictable place! I am giving up.

Work Trip

The past three days I've been in Grapevine for a work conference. Even though it was a lot of sitting for long periods of time, there were some fun parts. One night we rented a boat & cruised around the lake. Above are the girls I work with. They're all young, energetic & lots of fun. Good thing I got these gals around for entertainment.

These are the girls from my office. They decided to jump in the lake towards the end. As you'll notice, I did not join in this time.

Random Thoughts

What makes you laugh? I laugh at myself a lot

Who is your hero? I don't know.

Who would you want to be tied to for 24 hours? No one! That would be horrible!

How many pairs of shoes do you own? Probably 30-whatever the number, it's not enough

Seriously... Where does the other sock end up? An old man tried to take our laundry the other day, so I have my suspicions!

Who do you blame for your mood today? Myself. I was pretty pleasant today.

If the Internet were sex... I would probably not be on it as much. haha.

Have you ever seen a dead body? ya plenty. But they were all at funerals.

What is something scientists need to invent? a travel machine. It takes to long to see my family & friends.

What should we do with stupid people? Keep them around for amusement

Have you ever broken a bone? no...knock on wood

Do you watch local news? Why? no, it's too depressing

What happens after you die? the afterlife

How big is your bed? Big enough? Queen-the way I sleep, I really only need a twin.

How long do you think you will live? Well if I make it through childbirth, hopefully til I'm at least 80. (no I'm not pregnant)

Horsing Around

Tonight we went to Sam Houston Race Park to see the horse races. It was so much fun. I love seeing all the horses. My favorite part is picking out which horse I think will win. I always pick the one with the crazy name. I don't know how those people come up with them. Some of my favorites tonight were: Mambo Chill, Sassy's Tuffy, Separatist Baby, and Happy Streaker, just to name a few. If we had actually bet on them, we would have won some money tonight! It's so exciting seeing your pick actually win.

I saw a lot of horse teeth tonight. For some reason they were showing off their gums. Here's a close up. Reminds me of Mr. Ed.

Who Are You?

Something is seriously wrong. Lane has even asked me, "who are you?" a few times. What's causing all this confusion? I'll tell you what. I've been eating healthy. That's right. For the past week I have not snacked ONCE! I've had incredible willpower for some reason. I never imagined I would keep it up, much less have the desire to keep it up. How long will this last? I have no idea. Actually it will end on Wednesday. That's when I'll be out of town on business. Nothing good ever comes from those. Anyway, this is just a little pat on the back to myself.

4th of July Weekend

We had a great 4th of July. We spent the 4th with Jan & Rich in Whitney. We relaxed, cooked out & hung out at the pool. Couldn't have asked for anything better! Above is of me & Lane at the fireworks.
I had my heart set on getting sparklers, so I made Lane pull over on the side of the road at one of those fireworks stands. Here we are proudly displaying them.
Here's a picture of the fireworks show we watched. I wasn't able to figure my camera out to where we'd both show up at the same time.

On the 5th & 6th we headed up to Arlington to spend some time with my family & Brenda & Alan. We went with my family to the Dallas Aquarium. I've heard it was really good & wasn't disappointed. Here's a picture of Lane with Imogen & Lorelai. Behind them you can see the sloth hanging upside down.
