Fire Station Open House

Our local fire department had an open house today so E & I checked it out. Right as we got there we saw a helicopter land.

Elliot was allowed to climb inside all the fire trucks & ambulances.

I thought this was the coolest thing. They let her spray the hose!
So I know she looks mad in all of these pictures, but she really did enjoy herself :)

Fair Time

We made it to the fair again this year. Elliot has been every year. I didn't think it was going to happen, but we were able to squeeze it in and I'm so glad we did. We had so much fun. Things started off great when the guy who parked next to us gave us a free ticket. Good thing because there were no discounts today, so it helped out. Then while we were there, 5 different people came up to Lane and gave him their extra coupons. Score! Either people thought we looked like a cute family or that Lane looked like a hobo and needed a break. It was good for us though because it allowed us to get extra food and Elliot to ride 3 rides.

I didn't get any pictures, but in the food department we got 2 drinks, the Buffalo Chicken Flapjack (my personal favorite), Autumn Pie (also very good), the Walking Taco (Lane ate this one) and cotton candy. It was a great day for food.

 The best cotton candy ever!
 rabbits
I love the petting zoo here. They have all kinds of animals. Here's E petting a kangaroo.
 Feeding some kind of animal.
 On the farm.
 Farmer on the tractor.
The Dumbo ride. She loved this.

The swings. She went on this ride twice.

You can tell it was a good day. This was about 5 minutes into our drive home.

Dance Class

Today was Elliot's last day of dance class. They let the parents come inside, which was great, because I never knew what was actually going on in her class. She was one of the few that actually danced so that was good.
Here she is with her friend E.
They were supposed to be jumping in the hula hoops here.
 Another hula hoop dance.

She's going to be so sad that her class is over. Maybe we'll sign her up for another one in the Spring.

2 Weeks

Davis is doing so great. He is the sweetest little thing. He is a great sleeper during the day, too good of a sleeper if you ask me. I can never keep him awake. It's a different story at night. He has trouble going down. I don't know what it is, but as soon as we put him down after he's already asleep, he automatically wakes up. He is also a noisy sleeper. He's constantly grunting, but the weird thing is he only does it at night. During the day he doesn't make a peep. It's pretty annoying. And sometimes when he feeds in the middle of the night, he decides he's ready to wake up. Needless to say we've been losing sleep. Elliot was a great sleeper, so it's a bit of a shock. I'm thinking about changing up his schedule to feeding every 4 hours. That's what we did with Elliot and she did great.
I don't know if it's a boy thing, but I have never changed so many diapers in my life. I'm talking probably 20 a day. A lot of times, as soon as I change him, he goes again. It's a constant stream of pee and poop. Ugh.
I know it sounds like I'm complaining, but it really does't bother me too much. I just want to document his little habits. He had his 2 week check up today. He now weighs 8 pounds and is 21 inches. He's growing like a weed.

Elliot is so good with him. As I said before, she gives him kisses & pats his head. In the beginning, she would whine a lot, but now she's stopped that. She now will play more independently in her room which is great. She is also a fantastic helper. She's been so good. I honestly couldn't have asked for her to transition better.

Butterfly Flutterby

We took the kids to a butterfly festival in downtown Grapevine this morning. A friend told me about it and I thought it sounded right up E's alley. The great thing about it was that it was all free! We only stayed an hour total because we have short attention spans. It started off with a small parade...like literally 2 minutes. But there were bag pipes!

Proof that Davis was here. He slept through everything of course.
 E coloring her butterfly picture.
 Helping Daddy make butterfly antenna.
 The finished product.
You can see it a little better here.

She Loves Him

You always wonder how your firstborn will react to the new baby in the house. Will they be possessive of you? Mean to the baby? Pretend they don't exist? Or will they love him? Fortunately for us, it's the last. At least so far it is. Every time Elliot interacts with Davis she will rub his head and give him a kiss. Tonight she even said I love you (so sweet)! I try to keep her involved by letting her help me with things.

Instead of her taking things out on Davis, her way of acting out is to whine. Even though this drives me mad, at least she's not directing her displeasure towards her brother. We'll just have to find ways to reduce the whining.

First Bath

Davis finally had his first bath tonight. Although the pictures don't show it, I think he enjoyed the first part. He didn't cry and seemed to like the warm water. I was filming that portion. And then I guess he got tired of it because he started to get fussy. I'm sure he'll grow to love the whole bathing experience. I forget how long it takes.
Yes I know his bathtub is pink. Obviously it was originally Elliot's.
 All wrapped up.

While Mom & Dad Are Away...

Elliot is at play! While we were in the hospital, she stayed with my parents for 2 nights.
One of her favorite things to do with my dad is shave. He gives her his old razor (without the blade) and puts the shaving cream on her face. And then she gets to "shave" it all off. She loves it.
Elliot also got to spend the night with her cousins. I heard they had lots of fun...minus her waking them up at 5:30 in the morning. She's an early riser! I love how happy she looks in this picture.

More Pictures

Today is our first day at home. We got here around 2:30pm. We stopped by my parents house first because Elliot is staying with them. I think that has been the hardest part. I miss my girl! I'm fine being apart for 1 day, but anything more is too much. I feel so bad. I worry she'll wonder why she's not with us. She's spending the night with her cousins tonight, so I know she's super excited about that. It will just be me missing her I guess. Luckily tomorrow she'll be back with us full time and we can get into a good routine.
