What To Do

Lane & I have had this same conversation over & over & obviously have gotten no where with it. I need to find a hobby or something to keep me from watching tv all day long! Right now, I usually get home from work between 3 and 4. So I watch What I Like About You x 2, Gilmore Girls, Reba x 2, Still Standing x 2 & then my normal prime time picks. Pathetic I know. The thing is I would rather NOT watch all that tv from 3-7, but don't know what else to do. Yes I could work out & I'm trying to pump myself up for that, but what else? I was trying to think what I did before I got married, but I realized I used to go to school, then straight to work until 11pm, so I never had time for anything else. I need some ideas people!

Farewell Frosty

Last night I was craving a frosty, so off we went at 9:30pm to fulfill my wishes. I was surprised and confused to find out that a small frosty now costs $1.50 (including tax). What the crap? What happened to it being on the value menu? I was hoping it was just that particular Wendy's we went to, but I looked it up online & it is no longer there. How is it that a double stack burger can cost only $1 & a tiny frosty is more? So farewell to you my frosty friend. I will no longer be buying you (never say never). It's a much better deal to buy a small chocolate milkshake from Whataburger for $1.37 (not exact). And it's huge! You've made a BIG mistake Wendy's!

Webber Prize Winner

Back in the summer when Lane was doing research, he entered a competition based on his findings & won! They FINALLY got around to giving him his prize money & award. I'm so proud of him! Here's a little clip from the story:

"Alan Blankenship bested the largest-ever number of competitors at the annual Summer Research Program Forum and Webber Prize Competition Oct. 23. The Webber Prize for Student Research is awarded for outstanding student research and was established in memory of Dr. C. Frank Webber, former dean of the medical school."

13 weeks

I had my 13 week check up today. I was really glad they took another sonogram because I especially wanted to make sure everything is going ok. I mean, otherwise I don't even know it's in there! She said that sometimes she can tell if it's a boy or a girl, but I told her if she wasn't 100% sure to keep it to herself. I don't want to get my hopes up one way or another. Because as soon as I find out, I'll be out shopping for clothes & things for the room, etc. It had a good heart beat. This was the best picture we got. The head is in the bottom center & the body is swaying up to the left. I was surprised at how clearly I could see the spinal cord & rib cage. I can even start to see the profile of the baby's face. Pretty cool. The baby wasn't in the best position to be able to tell. She said she could do a vaginal sonogram to get a better look, but I was too lazy for that. I figured it's early anyway. I can wait 1 more month. That's really all.

Museum of Natural Science

Today Lane & I went to the Museum of Natural Science. I've been wanting to go here ever since we've moved to Houston. My favorite part was the dinosaur bones. Probably because they're so huge! The rest of the museum was just so so. I have to say that I only lasted about 30 minutes. Mainly because I hadn't eaten all day & was out of energy. I like the ideas of museums, but am not one to sit in front of 1 thing for 5 minutes reading stuff. I'd rather just walk through & look. I can be done with one in 5 minutes. Lane on the other hand is the opposite.

Skittles

The other day I saw someone with a bag of skittles, caught the fruity aroma & just had to have some. So I went to the store & bought a bag. Not a fun size bag, not a personal size bag, but a family size bag! I will say that they didn't have a smaller size. So for 2 days straight I popped skittles into my mouth. They were so tasty, but I did start to get a little sick of them towards the end. And that's when it happened...I immediately notice that something is different about my tooth. I feel around back there with my tongue & discover that those darn skittles removed one of my fillings! I started to freak out. I have a giant hole in my tooth & I can't stop messing with it. So this morning I called my dentist & am going to get it fixed on Tuesday. I was hoping I could get in today, but no such luck. No more skittles for me. In fact I don't want to eat anything until it's fixed because I'm paranoid that food will get stuck in there. Gross!

Lazy Day

Since we already celebrated earlier this week, we had a very laid back Valentine's Day. I slept in while Lane worked out & awoke to some pretty flowers & a card. Later that day we drove about 30minutes to get to the nearest Spring Creek BBQ (my favorite) & it did not disappoint! Later I spent the afternoon reading my US Weekly, while Lane got some study time in. For dinner we went to La Madeleine & I got their amazing tomato basil soup! Lane claimed he wasn't hungry because he ate too much earlier, so he just stared at me stuffing my face. To end the day, we watched one of the "Blue Collar Comedy" shows that I recorded earlier & ate chocolate covered strawberries. We were in bed by 9:30. Aren't we exciting?

Friday the 13th

In honor of this rare holiday, Lane & I along with 2 other couples went to see a scary movie, "Uninvited". I will say that no one in our group actually wanted to see the movie but Lauren. She is very persistent & hard to say no to, so we all put on our brave faces & went. I hate scary movies! Whenever a commercial comes on for them, I totally dismiss them & never even think about going. And now I know why. For about 60% of the movie I was holding my breath & had my eyes closed. Why do people think it's fun to be tense for 2 hours straight? I have to say I hated the movie & will never be persuaded to see another like it again!

Early Valentine's

Last night Lane took me to go see Legally Blonde The Musical. I loved it! And he was surprised at how much he liked it too. It was very entertaining & the choreography was great. I think my favorite character was the UPS guy. He did such a great job. I've always loved musicals & am now planning on going to several more!

Honest Scrap Award

I was 'tagged' by Kelley with the Honest Scrap Award. I won't bother tagging anyone, because I think everyone has done this or the 25 things list. So if you feel like it, go ahead & copy & paste this into your blog!

Here are a few things about me.........
1. I only want 1 kid & Lane is trying to convince me to have 3-4. I told him to lay off until I get through the 1st one & then we can revisit the subject.

2. I sometimes forget to button the top button of my pants & then when I remember, I still don't do it. I figure no one can see it because my shirt covers it & it's more comfortable.

3. I can usually out eat guys.

4. I am a road rage driver.

5. My favorite place to eat is Spring Creek because of their rolls & bbq sauce. YUM!

6. Since I don't see my coworkers everyday or my clients 2 days in a row, I sometimes wear the same outfit again so I don't have to do extra laundry.

7. When Lane is in trouble, I give him the "ninja squirrel" eyes. He came up with that name.

8. I probably watch more tv than the average person. The problem is that every day "my show" is on!

9. I would really like to be on a softball team, but no one I know is really into it.

10. I like to celebrate anything & everything. No event is too small!

Who Are These People?

Today was an unplanned Saturday. We both had nothing to do, so we decided we would go see "Into the Deep" at the IMAX. We changed our minds when we saw how packed it was. So we drove around & ended up at CiCi's. The part of Houston we live in must be CiCi's snobs because we had to drive about 20 minutes to get there. And when we walked in, we were literally the only white people in there. I have to say the alfredo pizza hit the spot. And we were in luck...there was a guy drawing characteratures (sp?)! Where else can you find that? Ok maybe the zoo, circus or some outdoor event, but nonetheless, I forced Lane & me into the chair in front of him & couldn't wait to see the finished product. We got to pick out the bodies & he just drew in the faces. When he showed us the picture I had to put on a fake smile & tell him how great it was. But come on people. Look at it. Does this picture remotely resemble either Lane or myself? Not in the least bit! Usually these guys pick out at least 1 feature & accentuate it, but there is nothing on that paper that looks anything close to us. We both had a good laugh.

Then we went to see the movie "Taken" which was pretty good. A lot of action.

My New Guilty Pleasure

In Rice Village they just put in The Chocolate Bar. It is amazing! I know I will be there probably once a week. They have gigantic cakes, ice cream, chocolate covered anything, etc. Tonight, I treated myself to a chocolate covered strawberry & chocolate malt ice cream. It was so delicious! Then I went a head & placed an order for chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's Day. And this was all before we ate dinner. A little backwards I know, but I balanced things out with a salad while Lane ate his weight in sushi. If you have one nearby, go check it out. The best part is that they encourage you to try samples! I don't have to feel like a pig anymore!

Out of the Woods?

This past Saturday was torture for me. I threw up 10 times & seriously thought I was going to die. Up to this point, my morning sickness hasn't been too bad, but it seems like the weekends are my worst nightmare. To make matters worse, Lane was out of town for school, so I had no one to comfort me (he's wonderful at that). It was so bad that I was thinking about calling Christina to take me to the hospital. I was worried about getting dehydrated. I also unlocked the top lock in case I died, so Lane could get in without having to break the door down. Sure I was probably a bit dramatic, but when Lane got home that night, I balled for about 1o minutes because I was so happy.

On a better note & the reason for my title, I think I may be out of the woods or close to it. I'm sure it's probably bad luck to even mention that, but yesterday I felt so good! Ever since I found out I was pregnant, I've been worthless. But yesterday I felt good all day long. Good enough to come home & clean the kitchen & bathroom. Good enough to go for a 30min walk. Good enough to eat a steak dinner. Could it be?! No more sickness? I'm 1 week from being out of my 1st trimester, which is when things should start getting better, so the timing is right. Keep your fingers crossed that this will keep up.
