Without Mommy

Today was my 1st day back to work after being on maternity leave for 6 weeks. I definitely wasn't ready to 1)work & 2)be away from Elliot. Luckily she stays with a friend of mine, so I don't have to put her in daycare. I'm kind of surprised that I didn't cry when I left her. I thought I would, but it just didn't happen. Probably because I didn't work by myself today, so I was occupied. However, I was very sad & thought about her all day. Several times I questioned if working is the right thing to do. I was told she did a great job today (Thank goodness!). She probably didn't even notice that I was gone (which hurts the most!).

It is hard going back to work, but she will be fine. It is harder on you than her.

It's so hard to leave your baby to go to work. I had to do it with Katy for a year and it was the hardest thing, but it was worth it in the end. Good luck!

Oh, I am sure she knew you weren't there. But, it is nice that she had a good day. And, I have the same bouncer. Do you like it?

I didn't realize you were back already...time flies! Lots of good comments above...if it's supposed to work out it will. She is so cute I can see why it's hard to leave her!

It seems like both of you took today like a champ! I'm glad that you don't have to put her in daycare!

I know that is hard but at least she is in good hands and the weekend is just a few hours away!

I will say that when i went back to work when Susie was 6 weeks it made me appreciate the time that I did get to stay home with her even more. She is so precious.

Don't you worry, she will notice soon enough that you're gone. Good to hear her first day went so well. Every day I wonder why I go to work, but it will get better some day.

That would be hard going back to work. Try it out for a while and see if it gets easier on you. At least Elliot did well.

Awww!! She did too notice you were gone! She was just being the good little girl you taught her to be!! You should be so proud!

That is one thing I'm not looking forward to... daycare! I love my job and enjoy working -- I don't think I could ever be a full-time stay at home mom. But I would love to work from home or work part-time so that I could spend more time with our little boy once he arrives! At least your little girl is staying with a friend... I'm sure that makes it a little easier!

She knew you were gone! I did the exact same thing with Jacob...he's almost 8 months old and I still question if I should be working. It does get better though, at least you have a friend that can watch him!! :)

Elliot is so, so, so beautiful! Even if she doesn't miss you now, she will... she'll figure out you're the greatest thing ever soon enough :o)
