Today Lane submitted his 15 residency applications. You can apply to as many places as you want. He is applying to the emergency medicine program. This is a big deal. It's the beginning of everything. The next step in this process is interviewing. He will be invited to interview at the schools he applied to. He probably won't interview at all of them, maybe 10. Interviews take place November through January. And once that's all said & done, he will rank the programs. At the same time the programs are ranking all the applicants they have seen. And that's when the "match" happens. We won't know where he's going until around March 15th. But here's a list of the possibilities:
U of Alabama at Birmingham
Emory University- Atlanta, GA
Indiana University- Indianapolis, IN
U of Missouri- Kansas City, MO
Carolinas Medical Center- Charlotte, NC
U of North Carolina- Chapel Hill, NC
Ohio State- Columbus, OH
Temple University- Philadelphia, PA
Vanderbilt University- Nashville, TN
Baylor- Houston, TX
JPS- Fort Worth, TX
UT Southwestern- Dallas, TX
UT Houston- Houston, TX
U of Utah- Salt Lake City, UT
U of Virginia- Charlottesville, VA

What a process. That sounds like a ton of work. I'm sure Lane will get into the school you guys want.
I'm hoping for SLC so that way you are close to us. If not, then somewhere in Texas.
Wow, those are some good choices and they are all very different! I know it will all work out in the end for you guys. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as I'm sure it can be very stressful especially the uncertainity for the next few months.
Looks like some interesting new cities to visit.
Good luck!!!! John applied to almost all those on Lane's list...how crazy would it be if we end up at the same place?!?! Crazy, I know!!! Anyways hope his interviews and all that go great and he gets his top choice! I'll be anxious to hear where y'all are headed!
Academically: Vanderbilt (what more can you say...it's VANDERBILT)! Emotionally: UT Southwestern (you'll be close to family). Good luck!
Good luck to Lane! Does he have some early favorites? What are the best ones for emergency medicine? And what are your top picks... DFW-area??

Go Utes! I have no idea if UofUtah is a good program or not for what Lane is applying for, but I have to show my school spirit. ;-)
Good luck with everything! That sure is a long wait to find out where you're going to be next. Hope it turns out like you want!
